Exploring Textures in Watercolour with Yesim Gozukara

Workshop – 2 Seascape

Granulation is a fascinating and distinctive feature of watercolour painting, where sedimentary pigments create textured, grainy, spotty, and mottled effects. These natural characteristics can be further emphasized by guiding the pigments’ flow using gravity, allowing the particles to move and form random rivulets and clusters.

In this one-day workshop, participants will be introduced to the granulation technique while working with loose, wet-into-wet methods. We’ll cover how to select the right watercolours that granulate, how to use granulating mediums, and share tips and techniques for achieving these unique textures.

The workshop will include a variety of show-and-tell materials. Participants will work towards finishing a painting, following a clear, step-by-step approach from start to finish.

Suitable for all levels, beginners to experienced.
