ARTIST NOTES: The colours of a Queensland sunset fall across the water and the face of Sofie. With Italian roots she grew up in Brisbane and has strong ties to the city through family, work and life. The face of The Great South East for many years, she has a recognisable smile that frequents our screens. Getting to know this beautiful woman when she sat for me at the scenic Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens was an absolute pleasure. Independant, kind and fun, capturing Sofie's essence and love of the outdoors in a classic, harmonious and elegant way was my aim. I love adding little elements from nature. In this case four birds flying close to Sofie represent her family. Often our family is where our heart is, the loves of our lives and the reason for so much joy. Sofie has a passion for eco living and reducing the use of single-use plastics so painting the portrait in natural mineral watercolours on cotton paper seemed an obvious choice.

ARTIST BIO

Sanchia is a Brisbane based artist and has lived here for 24 years. She studied Fashion and Textile Design at Mt Gravatt and has had a passion her entire life for art and fashion illustration. Captivated by the sublime flow of watercolours she creates art works that capture beauty, femininity and elegance.

Her inspiration often comes from the lines of the female body, the curve of a lip, sweep of hair, glint in an eye or stretch of limbs and how that connects to nature.
