The Australian Watercolour Muster is NOT a Competition, rather intended as an interactive Art Symposium and sharing of Artworks through Exhibition, with Workshops and opportunities to celebrate Watercolour in Australia and Internationally and to assist Artists grow their Studio practices, networks and skills.
The goal is - to create opportunities for our Australian Artists - giving exposure and acceptance for Artists and their Work leading to more commercial capability for themselves and the arts sectors internationally, by networking and sharing in Exhibition where and when possible in this world.
HOW IS THIS ACHIEVED - Sharing in Cairns - Australia
- 32 of the Entries for the Australian Watercolour Muster Biennale - 2025 will be selected to hang in the Cairns Court House Gallery from the 17th September to 8th November 2025 - as 'The 32 Best In Muster' 2025 - and presented on the Opening Night with a sample bag of gift materials thanks to Our Sponsors
These special 'Gift Packs of Materials' from these specialist art materials Sponsors will be presented on the Opening Night in Cairns - 6 to 8pm - 20th September 2023 at the Court House Gallery - Cairns Queensland Australia, so we will encourage all our Finalists to join with us in Cairns for the 'Muster of Artists - 2025'.
- All Selected Finalists will be showcased on the Australian Watercolour Muster Digital Gallery 2023 and available for sale from the 17th September to 8th November 2025, and retained on this Platform as long as the Artists continue to leave the Works uploaded via the G247 Platform servers.
- In 2025 we have now agreed with a number of our International Artists to have a number of our Workshops in Cairns Tutored by our these Artists - giving our Australian Artists an opportunity to meet and learn from some of the Masters from around the world - the full Program will be released by the 5th May 2025 - for booking of these Workshops.
HOW IS THIS ACHIEVED - Sharing in Fabriano/Bologna Italy 2025/26
- The goal of the 'Australian Watercolour Muster' is to celebrate the best of Australian Art and build opportunities for our Australian Artists to mix it with the best of International Artists through our liaison with the network formed across 80 countries - as part of FabrianoInAcquarello - Italy and other key Art Centres/Events around the world.
- This year we are inviting again, our International network of Artists to come to Australia and interact with us in Cairns Australia over the period of the Australian Watercolour Muster Biennale - 2025, so creating opportunities for us to network and grow our contacts and relationships internationally and vice-versa for visiting Artists.
- The Australian Watercolour Muster Curator and Team - collaborate with the Curatorial Team of FabrianoInAcquarello -Italy to release information and invitations to Australian Artists to be part of the FabrianoInAcquarello - Italy 'Call' for Artists and this year 2025 - we have 15 Artists in the Process of being selected to Exhibit with Artists from over 80 Countries in Fabriano and Bologna Italy during April/May 2025.
HOW IS THIS ACHIEVED - Sharing in Caudete - Spain 2026
A special opportunity has been extended to Australia to be the Guest Nation at the - BIENAL INTERNACIONAL DE ACUARELA CAUDETE - 2026!
- In 2022 India was the guest nation with Amit Kapoor leading his country group for the exhibition, and
- in 2024 Italy was the guest nation lead by Anna Massinissa from Fabriano.
- 2026 will mark the official guest nation as ‘Australia’ , lead by Caroline Deeble.
The Guest Nation Exhibition is delivered in a beautiful setting and opened by a delegate from the official guest nation embassy to Spain, the Town Mayor and leading directors of the Biennial Committee.
The 2026 events planned will be a magnificent showcase of the talent of Australian watercolour artists.
- In consultation with our Artist Caroline Deeble - Leader for Spain 2026, we plan to select five (5) of our Australian Artists from our '32 Best in Muster' 2025 to have their Work taken to Caudete - Spain, for Exhibition along with a number of other key Australian Artists to represent Australia.
Selection for this honour will be via a Popular Vote - by all of us in Cairns for The Australian Watercolour Muster Biennale - in September/November 2025, another reason to start planning your trip to Cairns - for the AWMuster - 18th to 22nd September 2025.
