ARTIST BIO

I was born in Melbourne and have resided and worked in St Kilda for over 30 years. The Arts and the making of art has always been of great interest to me. Although I didn't study art formally, my creative pursuits have contributed greatly to where I am today as an artist.

My early years were filled with drawing and after finishing school I chose a career as an audio engineer which spanned more than 20 years. Storytelling through spoken word, sound design and music are very much a part of my creative expression. I often describe this craft as "painting with sound".

Alongside my career in audio, I have studied and practised in the martial arts. For me, this discipline aligns with my interest in form, detail and technique.

In 2017 my friend and artist, Angela Nagel, introduced me to painting. I was immediately hooked and have continued to learn and develop my skills as a painter since then. I am now a full-time artist.

I enjoy working with a range of media but am mainly interested is in oil paint. My style leans toward realism in portraiture, landscape or still life, but at times I like to bring looser, more painterly elements to a piece.

My work is ever-evolving as I continue to explore and challenge myself as an artist. I am careful not to get too caught up in trying to find "my style" but instead, allow it to find me!

I keep an open mind, listen to my intuition and paint whatever I feel connected to.

I have been lucky to sell my work throughout Australia and recently to New York. I have also completed some commissioned pieces which is a process I enjoy and hope to continue.
