I was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia, now Harare, Zimbabwe – a once beautiful country and immigrated to Perth, Australia in 1987.
As a young woman, one of my first jobs was working for the Advertising Department of a Department Store in Salisbury before going on to work for several different Advertising Agencies. In 1980 I moved to South Africa and gained work with BBDO in Johannesburg (a reputable Advertising Agency).
Having arrived in Perth I eventually found the time (once my children were older) to take my art more seriously and I began to explore what interested me. I was drawn to watercolour although I have enjoyed Pastels, Oils and Acrylics too. I took numerous courses over the years, including watercolour courses at Bathurst. I have also been lucky enough to study watercolours with Amanda Hyatt and Tony Smibert here in Perth.
I belong to the Watercolour Society of WA and have exhibited with them over the last 8 years. I exhibit locally and regionally and have held a solo exhbition at the Oceanus Restaurant, City Beach and a joint exhibition at Tresillian Community Centre, Nedlands. \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nI have won several awards in and around Perth over the years including best overall winner at the 2012 Watercolour Society of WA. Overall winner at the Wagin Woolarama in 2104 apart from other awards. |
