ARTIST BIO

TONY WALKER

As a prominent Brisbane Australia based visual artist, Tony Walker is focused on landscape and figurative painting drawn from worldwide locations and remote, coastal and urban Australia. From his studios in Brisbane and Noosa and from en plein air locations in city and country, his expressive style in watercolour, acrylic, ink and other media is interpretive and searches for authenticity, taking the viewer away to the spirit of the subject.

Tony has had numerous solo exhibitions and group exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. He drew and painted from an early age and gained much from workshops with a number of acclaimed artists while qualifying and practicing as professional in the Urban Design sphere, subsequently becoming a full time visual artist. Recent art awards includeBrisbane Art Extravaganza, Royal Queensland Art Society, Watercolour Society of Queensland and others. His most recent solo exhibitions were at Petrie Terrace Gallery, Soda Stream Gallery and Aspire gallery in Brisbane and Al Madina Gallery, Muscat, Oman. His most recent role as art judge was for the 'Watercolour' category and 'Heritage' category in the Brisbane Rotary Art Extravaganza 2019.

Tony Walker is an experienced art tutor having held workshops in-studio and also with various art societies and Flying Arts in the past. Currently he provides 'Expressive Watercolour' and 'Drawing/Pen/Ink' workshops and he was a selected tutor in the international Brisbane Sketchfest 2019.

Tony Walker is a member of Royal Qld Art Society and Watercolour Society of Qld, facebook groups including Plein Air Painters of Qld Australia and several branches of the worldwide Urban Sketch Group.
